Non-veg Aloo Dum
This recipe takes a very little time to be cooked. It can be served with Kulcha or paratha or even Rotis.. This is ideal for dinner...


Ingredients

  • Potatoes (halfed) - 12 pieces
  • Yogurt - 10 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 3 to 4 tbsp*
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 to 2 tbsp**
  • Onions (chopped) -3
  • Green chili(slit) - 1
  • Coriander Powder - 2 tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  • oil
  • Ghee - 1tbsp
  • Cashew Nuts - 8 to 10
  • Ginger - 1tbsp
  • Garlic - 1tbsp
  • water
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds- 1tbsp

Directions

  1. Boil the peeled and halved potatoes in salted water.
  2. Make a paste with onions, ginger, garlic, cashew nuts, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and two tbsp. of water in a grinder
  3. Mix the paste with Yogurt and blend well.
  4. Then add red chili powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder in the yogurt -mixture and blend well for 2 minutes. Keep this paste aside.
  5. Then heat oil in a kadai and fry the potatoes.
  6. Once frying is done keep the fried potatoes aside.
  7. Again heat oil and add bay leaf, and garam masala powder for aromatic smell.
  8. Then add the yogurt mixture and cook well for 1 to 2 minutes. Add sugar ,salt and green chili in this step. You can also add water to increase the volume of gravy.
  9. Then add the potatoes and ghee and cook for 2 minutes.

Shortcut

*Red chili powder depends on taste. **More turmeric powder could be added if the proper yellow color not comes. Fresh cream and coriander leaves could be used to garnish..
